Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Full Frame Compact Camera Announced

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Full Frame Compact Camera Announced – and It Is Gorgeous! by Eric Reagan on September 12, 2012 The Sony Cyber-shot RX1 is a new full frame compact camera, which sounds like a bit of an oxymoron. Somehow, Sony managed to stuff a full frame image sensor inside a compact body and bolt a 35mm f/2 Zeiss lens on the front with a 9-blade aperture for circular bokeh. And, you know what? It looks amazing.
Sony RX1 The label “game changer” gets thrown around a little too much with cameras, so I won’t call it that, but the RX1 certainly steps up the game and adds another level of complexity to the current mirrorless landscape for Sony’s competitors. It will also garner more than a few mentions alongside more expensive cameras like the Leica M9. The RX1 gets the same 24.3MP full frame sensor as found in the A99 and will capture 14-bit RAW files, as well as 1080p video at 24p or 60p frame rates. Additional features include a sensitivity range of ISO 50-25600 (up to 102400 w/ Multi Frame Noise Reduction), Auto HDR mode and

ContourROAM Review

by Eric Reagan on August 11, 2012
The ContourROAM is a POV action camera that competes head-to-head with the GoPro line. The ContourROAM is the $200 entry-level model of Contour’s POV camera lineup. There are a couple of key things that separate Contour cameras from GoPro. First, the on/off switch is a big button that slides back and forth on the top of the camera. Slide it forward and it’s on – a red record light gives you visual confirmation along with an audible beep. Slide it back and it’s off – the light goes off and you get another beep. ContourROAM Mounted on Downtube This record switch makes it easy to operate the camera when you can’t see the buttons (for instance, on top of your helmet). I didn’t realize how

Sony RX100 Hands-On Review

I have been using the Sony RX100 for about a week now and I have to say that it is a stunning little camera. It packs 20MP CMOS image sensor and the fixed zoom lens provides 28-100mm equivalent zoom range with a max f/1.8 aperture. The RX100 gives a proper use of that little 2.7x crop sensor that’s also found in the Nikon 1 Series. And, best of all, it’s a pocketable camera.
While we can stretch or carrying comfort to pack along an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera, very few of us wear jeans that allows us to stuff one of those in our front pockets.

The First Wedding In the World Filmed With Ultra-High Definition 3D Cameras

from http://gizmodo.com " I always hated video in weddings. The quality always look so cheesy. But not this one. This one was filmed with RED Epic cameras on 5K resolution and 3D! These are the same cameras that Peter Jackson is using for The Hobbit or Ridley Scott used for Prometheus. Gizmodo's friend Peter Chang—from Golden Gate 3D—sent us the teaser trailer for the world's first 3D wedding video shot in stereoscopic 3D on 5K resolution RED Epic cameras. They didn't take any photos, as "each frame can also be extracted as a high resolution 3D still image." That's a technique that some photographers are using now with mixed results—although most photographers don't film with RED Epics. The wedding was celebrated at The Mirador Estate, in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, California. Peter says that the garden was in full spring bloom, "resulting in some gorgeous 3D visuals to complement Julia and Stuart—the bride and groom." I hope Julia and Stuart got a 3D TV in their wedding registry. What do you think? Maybe a bit overkill? Perhaps, but I can guarantee you that most brides would feel jealous. [Thanks Peter Chang, from Golden Gate 3D]" link for video in 3D

Sony introduces the full-featured yet light and compact PMW-100 handheld camcorder. The PMW-100 joins the ever popular XDCAM HD422 line-up – making it the smallest and lightest camcorder in the XDCAM family. Vaddio Launches the World’s First High Definition USB PTZ Camera

The ClearVIEW HD-USB is the world’s first broadcast-quality HD PTZ camera with USB and Ethernet streaming built right into the camera. Now you can directly plug an HD PTZ camera directly into your PC – without the need for a separate capture device. Because the ClearVIEW HD-USB uses standard UVC drivers, no special USB drivers need to be installed. As a result it works seamlessly with any software application running on any OS that supports USB 2.0 devices.
“For the last two years we have been inundated with requests for a professional-quality high definition PTZ camera,” explains President of Vaddio, Rob Sheeley. “As more enterprise videoconferencing users adopt soft codecs such as Skype and Microsoft Lync, they are demanding better performance than what a webcam can deliver. With our new camera they can finally achieve broadcast-quality video from a USB camera.” The ClearVIEW HD-USB also supports H.264 video streaming. With a built in Ethernet network interface you can now do both IP control and IP Streaming directly from the camera. It supports either RTSP or HLS streaming protocols. The camera features a 19x optical zoom lens with a 58.1-degree wide angle of view – wide enough to view everyone at a standard conference table, as well as capture an individual from a long distance at 3.2 degrees in a larger room. The zoom range provides great flexibility for a wide variety of applications. Add the optional USB Quick Connect cable system and extend the USB, power and control up to 300 feet. This way you can mount the camera anywhere and not worry about the cabling distance from the computer. http://www.vaddio.com http://www.videomag.gr

EDIUS OPTIMISED FOR 3D

A special version of EDIUS that adds extensive 3D editing capabilities has been made available for download for a limited period.
The EDIUS 3D 'Preview Version' incorporates native 3D support for video clips captured with the most popular 3D cameras, easy clip pairing for synching left eye/right eye clips; conversion of single stream 3D (like side-by-side) to dual stream 3D (left eye and right eye); and a array of tools on the editing timeline that make 3D adjustments easy. 3D evangelist and veteran EDIUS user Al Caudullo has been testing the software extensively, taking it to the rugged highlands of western Mongolia to cover the annual Eagle Festival. Al also presented a session on 3D editing at the recent Editors Retreat conference in Austin, TX. "The Editors Retreat is a gathering of North America's post production elite. It was an amazing experience to be with so many seasoned pros." said Al. "Everyone, including the Keynote Speaker Jay Rabinowitz, who participated in the EDIUS 3D presentation agreed that 3D IS coming and all expected to be asked to edit 3D in the near future. They had great things to say about the smooth workflow and extensive feature set of EDIUS 3D." The EDIUS 3D Preview Version will be updated regularly—at least monthly—through the end of March 2012.
