Sony launches the world’s smallest and lightest 4K camcorder

It’s the first 4K Handycam® that features a large back-illuminated 1.0-type Exmor R™ CMOS sensor. Far larger than the sensor in normal consumer camcorders, this captures flawless 4K Ultra HD images (3840 x 2160 pixels) with four times the detail of Full HD while also allowing beautiful bokeh background blur effects.
The 4K sensor is paired with Sony’s ultra-powerful BIONZ X processor that employs area-specific noise reduction and detail reproduction technology for incredibly vivid, lifelike footage that’s closer than ever to reality. Together with the camcorder’s advanced Cinematone Gamma/Colour function, progressive 25p recording gives a sumptuously warm, rich look to your footage.
The Handycam® AX100E uses a newly-developed ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens with

Sony adds 4K* consumer camcorder to its Handycam portfolio

Sony unveiled its first 4K consumer camcorder, the new Handycam® FDR-AX1E. Now video enthusiasts can capture 4K content for expressive, powerful imaging with incomparable levels of clarity and exquisite colour in every scene.
Four times the detail of Full HD
The FDR-AX1E camcorder records 4K and HD movies in the XAVC S format, using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Long GOP for video and Linear PCM for audio compression, while saving files in an MP4 wrapper. The XAVC-S format allows longer recording times, storing almost two hours of 4K video on a 64GB XQD memory card, making 4K recording easier and more convenient. Switching to Full HD recording can store almost 3 hours of 1920×1080 50p footage on a single card. For further compatibility with existing consumer devices, AVCHD format is planned to be updated by the middle of 2014
The FDR-AX1E camcorder features a 4K image sensor that is essential to the stunning image quality it can achieve. The 1/2.3-type Exmor R™ CMOS sensor captures true 4K resolution (3840×2160) images, containing four times the picture detail of Full HD, and has the output speed required by the massive 4K 50 fps data stream. The powerful image processor, identical to those found in professional 4K camcorders, rapidly processes signals transmitted from the CMOS sensor and finalizes images in real time at 50p.
Pristine imagery is also assured by the high quality Sony G Lens™ which redefines what an aspheric lens and special low-dispersion glass combination can reproduce. The G Lens is specially tuned to capture qualities of definition and colour that put this groundbreaking Handycam® camcorder in a class of its own. In addition, the lens offers a broad zoom range from wide-angle to 20x optical (31.5-630mm 35mm equivalent); while Optical SteadyShot keeps footage crisp and stable, even at telephoto mode.

Creative controls and pro-style ergonomics
The FDR-AX1E camcorder offers several functions to

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Full Frame Compact Camera Announced

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 Full Frame Compact Camera Announced – and It Is Gorgeous! by Eric Reagan on September 12, 2012 The Sony Cyber-shot RX1 is a new full frame compact camera, which sounds like a bit of an oxymoron. Somehow, Sony managed to stuff a full frame image sensor inside a compact body and bolt a 35mm f/2 Zeiss lens on the front with a 9-blade aperture for circular bokeh. And, you know what? It looks amazing.
Sony RX1 The label “game changer” gets thrown around a little too much with cameras, so I won’t call it that, but the RX1 certainly steps up the game and adds another level of complexity to the current mirrorless landscape for Sony’s competitors. It will also garner more than a few mentions alongside more expensive cameras like the Leica M9. The RX1 gets the same 24.3MP full frame sensor as found in the A99 and will capture 14-bit RAW files, as well as 1080p video at 24p or 60p frame rates. Additional features include a sensitivity range of ISO 50-25600 (up to 102400 w/ Multi Frame Noise Reduction), Auto HDR mode and

Sony RX100 Hands-On Review

I have been using the Sony RX100 for about a week now and I have to say that it is a stunning little camera. It packs 20MP CMOS image sensor and the fixed zoom lens provides 28-100mm equivalent zoom range with a max f/1.8 aperture. The RX100 gives a proper use of that little 2.7x crop sensor that’s also found in the Nikon 1 Series. And, best of all, it’s a pocketable camera.
While we can stretch or carrying comfort to pack along an interchangeable lens mirrorless camera, very few of us wear jeans that allows us to stuff one of those in our front pockets.
